Hi [NAME], thanks for connecting!

I was looking through your work experience and saw that you [HIGH SCHOOL JOB] in [CITY_A]. I grew up in [CITY_B] and my cousins grew up in [CITY_C] so I visited that area a lot growing up. That is a really beautiful area of [LARGE_CITY]!

Congratulations on working your way up to senior trader! I know it takes a lot of hard work to start off as an intern in the industry and work your way up.

As a software developer, I'm looking to learn what problems I can help solve in the natural gas industry. Would you be willing to help me out?

If so, could you let me know what your biggest day to day frustration is when trading natural gas?

Thanks,

Hi [NAME], thanks for connecting!

It looks like you have been working as a natural gas scheduler and analyst for a few years (congrats, I know it takes a lot of work to get into the industry and then start working your way up!).

As a software developer, I'm looking to learn what specific online tools and data needs there are in the natural gas industry. Would you be willing to help me out?

If so, could you let me know what your biggest day to day frustration is when scheduling natural gas?

Thanks,
Anthony

Inbound Report
Message Type: Email
Service: PipeRiv.com

Not sure how many inbound reports I'll post. At the beginning I figured it would be helpful to explain where inbound is coming from.

At the top of the site, I have this message:
---
Jun 19, 2024 [Date Changes With Code Updates]: PipeRiv just recently launched. If there is data you wish you had easier access to or would like to see something specific added, please don't hesitate to reach out: [EMAIL ADDRESS]

You can view the latest changes on the Changelog page.
---

I made a Changelog post on X/Twitter using my https://x.com/piperivcom account that included a hashtag with some updates to the site. A couple people followed me and one reached out by email with an interesting idea.

We had some communication, they asked me to keep them updated, and then they unfollowed me on X/Twitter.

Hi [NAME], thanks for connecting!

I don't have any experience in natural gas, but I have been a software developer for 20+ years and know how to work with large amounts of data.

I'm reaching out to see what types of tools or data are needed in the industry that I could build that would be helpful to you.

As a director (congratulations, it looks like you started this new position at the beginning of the year!), is there any online tool that could help make your life easier? Is there any daily process that causes you frustration or that you wish could be simplified to save you or those under you time?

Right now I'm focused on building centralized, mobile-friendly, easy-to-use pipeline informational postings, but if there is something else I should be focusing on, I'm definitely open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks,
Anthony

Your profile mentioned that your primary focus is the Northeast and West. What specific pipelines are you currently scheduling (if you don't mind sharing)?

Thanks,

Hey [NAME], thanks for connecting!

Are there any natgas data tools you wish existed or a website that does exist, that you wished worked better?

The reason I ask is because I'm very early in the process of building a centralized website that provides natural gas data tools. I'm trying to figure out what data needs traders have that aren't currently being filled.

Is there any public data you wish you had better insight/access to?

Thanks,
Anthony

Thanks,

Hi [NAME],

I saw that you have been working in the natural gas industry for over 10 years. You have clearly been working hard to get where you are at! Your work experience looks really impressive!

I've been a software developer for 20+ years but I don't have a lot of experience in the natural gas industry. I'm wanting to learn what kinds of tools I should be building that would be helpful to schedulers.

As a scheduler, is there any online tool that could help make your life easier? Do you have any suggestions of what I should be building?

Right now I'm focused on building centralized, mobile-friendly, easy-to-use pipeline informational postings, but if there is something else that would be helpful, I'm definitely open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks,
Anthony

Decided to try a more authentic approach.

Hi [NAME],

Congratulations on making it to a gas scheduler role! It looks like you have been working really hard over the years to get where you are at (my brother is a pipeline controller and I know how hard it is to get your foot in the door in the industry).

You also have a beautiful dog (or four dogs?)! Growing up we had a black lab named Shadow that I would "walk" by having him pull me a mile around our neighborhood on rollerblades - he could run a mile pulling me in under four minutes - that brings back some really good memories!

Anyway, I've been a software developer for 20+ years but I don't have a lot of experience in the natural gas industry. I'm wanting to learn what kinds of tools I should be building that would be helpful to schedulers.

As a scheduler, is there any online tool that could help make your life easier? Do you have any suggestions of what I should be building?

Right now I'm focused on building centralized, mobile-friendly, easy-to-use pipeline informational postings, but if there is something else I should be focusing on, I'm definitely open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks,
Anthony

Hey [NAME],

As a natural gas scheduler, do you have any frustrations with pipeline informational postings?

The reason I ask is because I'm very early in the process of building a centralized, mobile-friendly natural gas informational postings website.

Is there any kind of notification tool, data visualization, or some other feature that I should build that would be helpful to schedulers?

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi [NAME],

As an oil & gas industry veteran, are there any oil & gas websites or tools you wish existed or a website that does exist, that you wished worked better?

The reason I ask is because I'm very early in the process of building a centralized website for the oil & gas industry to provide community/networking, a directory, news, and public data tools.

As a [JOB] I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that you don't need public data tools. But is there some feature that you wish existed on a website?

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi [NAME], quick question: Is there any public natural gas data you need that is frustrating to use or access?

I believe you trade natural gas stocks based on your posts. I'm a software developer looking to build data tools for the oil & gas industry (things like centralized informational postings, a FERC filing database, tracking permits, interactive EIA reports, interactive BHI rig reports, etc.)

Is there any public data that you wish was easier to use or access?

My current LinkedIn strategy is to send out about 20 connections a day Tuesday - Friday and then send 2 cold messages Tuesday - Friday to people who have accepted my connection request.

Eventually, I'd like to get those numbers up to 100 connection requests sent a week and 5 cold messages sent Tuesday - Friday for 20 messages sent a week.

When a connection request is accepted, I add them to my CRMJot.com account. My goal is to write the messages out at least a day before so when I send the message, all I have to do is copy and paste it from CRMJot into LinkedIn.
